Did you hurt your back wrapping presents?

While organising events with family and friends and deciding what to give as gifts are stressful, your body may complain about the hours of rushing around shopping and time spent bent over presents that need wrapping.

Here are some tips on how to protect your back while wrapping all those holiday gifts.

Don't Sit on the floor

Gift wrapping on the floor causes you to spend hours leaning forward while seated on a hard surface. Your posture will suffer, and so will your neck and back. Try using a table instead where you can sit up straight.

Take breaks and stretch

Wrapping presents often results in holding uncomfortable positions for long periods of time, which can result in a lot of stiffness in the neck and back. To help mitigate these negative effects, try taking breaks to rest and change position. Stretching can keep your muscles from getting too stiff.

Keep frequently-used materials close to you

Reaching across the table for scissors or tape could strain your neck or back muscles. If materials are closer to you, you’ll also be able to wrap more efficiently.
